The 16-inch MacBook Pro, released on November 13, 2019, was Apple's most powerful laptop at the time, featuring 9th-generation Intel processors, a large Retina display, advanced thermal management, and a highly anticipated return to a more reliable scissor-mechanism "Magic Keyboard".
Key Features and Connectivity
"Magic Keyboard": A major improvement over previous generations, this model reverted to a refined scissor-mechanism keyboard with 1mm of key travel, offering a more comfortable and reliable typing experience. It also reintroduced a physical Escape key and an inverted-"T" arrangement for the arrow keys.
Audio and Microphones: Featured a redesigned high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with force-canceling woofers for richer, clearer sound and a studio-quality three-mic array for improved recordings.
Advanced Thermal System: The thermal architecture was the most advanced in a Mac notebook at the time, designed to sustain higher power for longer periods, with a larger heat sink and increased airflow to dissipate heat more effectively.
Ports and Expansion: Connectivity remained consistent with previous generations, featuring four multi-purpose Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports that support charging, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt (up to 40Gb/s), and USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gb/s). A 3.5 mm headphone jack was also included.
Touch Bar and Touch ID: It retained the Touch Bar and integrated a separate Touch ID sensor for secure login and purchases.
Battery: Housed a large 100-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery, the maximum size allowed on commercial flights at the time, providing up to 11 hours of wireless web use.
